Wicked week of training! Everyone has been training super hard, maybe a little too hard to be racing. We started off with a three day Lactic block that made even the toughest athletes whimper. Halves and a Full-On lactic session per day was punishing. This also included core and weights so that three a day workouts never seemed to end.
This weekend was the Rich Weiss Memorial Race. Alberta had 9 athletes competing, roughly half the attendees. After our hard week it was a challenging course that Kurt set for us to navigate. Added to the low water, it took everyone's best head to get down the course. This was a nice warm up for Senior Trials in five weeks and Junior Trials in 9 weeks.
A big thanks to the ever generous volunteers in Chilliwack.
Now we are back with our noses to the grindstone for one more week. This week we are upping the pace a bit and reducing the load.
We are 11 in the house. Cooking has been going pretty well, though the clean up is a challenge. We are still finding easter eggs from our epic hunt, and likely they will keep finding them all summer.
Happy paddling!

Early March
Well its the beginning of March and the weather is getting warmed up, if only for a couple days. I figured its time to start up a blog since we have lots of races and travel ahead of us.
I had a quick trip on the weekend to Edmonton, via Cottonwood club's pool session. Man, watch out all you other zones. Cottonwood has a women's team that will be tough to beat. It was great to see Glen Gillies coaching and all the parents supporting.
Paul snuck me into the gym for a training session Saturday morning before our mascot got to meet her siblings. Seo, 8 puppies, and mom and dad, got together for a romp at the farm. Seo also got to meet Goli, the Hunter-Manning's dog for a walk on Sunday.
Friday is our Media Training Workshop at the University of Calgary. Thanks to the Cara at the Canadian Sport Center-Calgary for organizing it.
Saturday we leave for our Spring Break Camp in Chilliwack. Hopefully the weather will cooperate better than it did for our trip to Charlotte two weeks ago.
