The details of the Tournament are as follows:
Date: Saturday, November 29 / 2008
Event: EWP Recreational Canoe Polo Clinic and Tournament
Location: Kinsmen Pool Edmonton 9100 Walterdale Hill
Clinic: Playing 1 pm to 3 pm and Referee 2 pm to 3 pm
Pause to organize equal Teams from those present.
Tournament: 3:30 pm to 10 pm
Cost: $30
Equipment Provided although players may feel free to bring their own.
The Canadian National Development Team raced in Veltrusy, CZE this weekend. The field was made up primarily of Czech paddlers, who brought an especially strong contingent of K1s, though an Austrian and several Kiwis also attended. Ben Hayward secured a spot on the podium on Sunday, with two solid and clean runs to place third behind Hilgert and Kubrican of Czech Republic. Paul Manning-Hunter and Pierre Levesque also had good results from the weekend - Paul finishing 8th and 4th and Pierre 5th on the first day. Kathleen Taylor had a good race on Sunday, finishing 7th with two smooth runs, while Jessica Groeneveld put up competitive times and finished high on the results board (4th and 5th), despite too many penalties on both days.

The Ministry’s 2008-09 total program expense is $248 million, a $1.7 million increase from the 2007-08 forecast.

The Ministry’s capital expense is $88 million, a $14.8 million or 14.4 per cent decrease from the 2007-08 forecast. In 2007-08, $50 million of one-time capital grants were provided for major recreation and sport facilities in Edmonton and Calgary. Capital spending highlights in 2008-09 include:
The Ministry’s 2008-09 capital investment budget is $36 million. The majority of this capital investment will go towards maintaining and improving infrastructure and maintenance in Alberta’s network of 500 parks and protected areas.
